Roger Neiss, 67, peacefully passed away at home on December 24, 2010 in Lakewood, Washington. Roger is survived by two children; Heather Neiss of Puyallup, Washington and Kirsten Menshenfriend of Dundurn, Saskatchewan Canada, as well as his three grandchildren; Jacob, Lydia and Luke. He is also survived by his siblings; Jackie Neiss Yvonne Gomez and Maggie Cummings and well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in San Francisco, California to Roger and Edna Neiss, the majority of Roger’s life was spent in the Bay Area until moving to be near his daughter, Heather, in Washington in 2006. He graduated from All Hallows School and then joined the army in 1961. He was assigned to the 26th Artillery Group, Fort Lawton, Washington, Head quarters Battery. It was there that he spent the remainder of his service until he was honorably discharged on April 27, 1964, at the rank of Specialist, 4th Class. After the army he moved back to San Francisco where he worked with his Dad at their family owned company, Litho Art. He eventually took the company over and had a successful business for many years. He also followed his father’s footsteps as Editor of the V-8 Ford Magazine. Roger was passionate about many things: Baseball (Especially the Giants), the 49ers, photography, vintage cars, the Elks, word games, cats and turtles, history, art, nature, jeeps, and grandkids. Roger spent the last years of his life getting to know his family better, enjoying walks in Ward’s Lake Park with its abundant wildlife, reading mystery novels, and loving his cat Thirteen (she had 13 toes!). He was loved and will be missed. Please feel free to leave your thoughts and memories on the guestbook.
