Robert J. Rodriguez, age 79, of Venice, FL, died on December 24, 2016. He was born in Oakland, CA on February 25, 1937 to Mary Ann (Jovich) and Manuel Rodriguez. Robert worked for Ford Motor Co. for 34 years as a district manager until he retired in January 1999. He also served in the US Army in Korea. Robert was an avid golfer, received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, and later moved to Venice, FL from Scottsdale, AZ in 2006. Surviving family members include his wife of 30 years Whitney (Russell) Rodriguez of Venice, FL and Fairfield, OH; sons Peter of Phoenix, AZ, Kent (Rhonda) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Dean of Portland, OR; daughters Annette Hutchings of Scottsdale, AZ, and Nicole Rodriguez of Houston, TX; step-daughter Kelley Stern of Fairfield, OH; step-son Brian (Patricia) Roettger of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters Alexandria Holloway of Houston, TX, Danielle Hutchings of Scottsdale, AZ, and Bailey Rodriguez of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons Garrison Britton of Portland, OR and Zachary Hutchings of Scottsdale, AZ; step-granddaughter Emily Stern of Keller, TX; step-grandson Brody Roettger of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren Matthew and Tiffany Weiss of TX; brother-in-law Thomas (Tip) and Jane Russell; and his favorite friend, his dog Roxi. Robert was predeceased by his mother, father, sister, and one step-son Kevin Roettger. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorial donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice Inc. at 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 or Animal Friends Humane Society at 1820 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, OH 45011.
