Richard L. Murphy, 75, of Venice, FL formerly of Boxford, MA, passed away September 2, 2015. Richard was born October 16, 1939 in East Boston, MA to the late Joseph H. Murphy and Margaret (McGuinn) Murphy. Richard was a retired Insurance Executive who worked in the insurance industry for forty years. His hobbies included golf, deep sea fishing, cooking and most importantly spending quality time with his family. For the past ten years Richard resided in beautiful Venice, FL. Survivors include his loving wife, Jane A. Murphy of Venice, FL; his three children and their spouses: Richard L. Murphy, Jr. and wife, Patricia of Hanover, MA; Michael J. Murphy and wife Julia, of Charlotte, NC and Cara M. Murphy of North Andover, MA. In addition, he was the loving Grandfather to three grandchildren; Carson S. Murphy, Katherine M. Murphy and Colin R. Murphy; three step-children; Wendy Rocca, Jennifer Fallon and Stefanie Baumblatt and eight step-grandchildren. He also is survived by his remaining sisters and brother Barbara Poirier of Malden, MA, Margaret Mangiano of Revere, MA and Francis Murphy of Middleton, MA and many nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Valley Forge, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2970 University Parkway, Suite 104, Sarasota, FL 34243.
