Arnie Timss, 77, was born near Balvi, Latvia to Arvid and Anna Timss, August 28, 1940. He passed away November 5, 2017. Arnie, with his brothers and parents, and with the help of the Lutheran Church emigrated from Latvia to the US when he was 10 years of age, the family ultimately settling in Seattle in 1952.Arnie went to Queen Anne High School, served in the US Army Reserve and attended and graduated from the University of Washington in 1964 with a degree in Business and Accounting. He was certified CPA for much of his career. He worked for the Seattle accounting firm - Knight, Vale Gregory, he was the comptroller for Thurman Industries home improvement chain and later worked for Satco Products in Mukilteo.Arnie met Arlene (Sevald) in 1967. They married in 1970, bought a home, and planted deep roots in Richmond Beach, where they made their family home, raised a kid, and together lived out their 44+ years under that roof.Mr. Timss enjoyed war novels, Bond films, stretch Cadillacs, the hashbrowns @ the 13Coins, and the musical works of Neil Diamond. He loved gardening, golfing, the Golf channel, gambling on the occasional horse and spoiling his grandchildren. He always loved and looked out for his nieces and nephews like they were his own. He was a founding member of the First Friday Poker Club where he faithfully held monthly court for more than 30 years. Some say he lifted Clark Gables moustache and dashing smirk in 1960 and got another 50 years traction out of it. He was a simply a charming and generous fellow to spend any kind of time with.He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Arlene; his parents, and his brothers George and Ivars Timss. He is survived by his only son Aaron Timss, daughter-in-law Kristie Timss, two grandchildren Austin and Elise; his brother John Timss of Silver City, NM, and his brother Ivars wife, Sharon Timss and many nieces and nephews.A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday January 13th, 2018 at First Lutheran of Richmond Beach, 18354 8th Ave. NW in Shoreline, WA.
