Perry at 88, of Edmonds, WA passed away on February 22, 2018. He was born November 25, 1929 to Errol and Hazel Crandell in Bellingham, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Jacqueline Joan Crandell. Perry grew up in Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School. He completed a B.A. in Economics at Western Washington University and while a senior he fell in love with Jacqueline Paterson, a Canadian track star. Because of the Korean War he entered the Army Security Agency and was sent to the Army Language School to learn Russian. After language school, a short spy school, then was sent to Japan. After the Army he worked for Standard Oil in Seattle, WA. Deciding he wanted to be a teacher, he returned to Western Washington University and earned a B.A. in Education. Later earning a Masters of Education at the University of Washington and graduate work through the Child Study Institute at the University of Maryland and Instructional Theory into Practice at UCLA. He began teaching, later, an elementary school principal and prior to retirement, was the negotiator for the teachers all within the Edmonds School District. He will be deeply missed, but his place in heaven is assured and the beauty of his life on earth will never be forgotten. Perry is survived by his daughter, Sharon Dianne Beilke (Wain) of Kent, sons, Michael Shawn Crandell of Bothell, and Kevin Lee Crandell of Edmonds; his grandsons, Brandon Beilke (Rachel) and Brent Beilke (Katie); and great grandsons, Brodie Beilke, Carter Beilke, and Croix Beilke. A Graveside service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 24 at Restlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Beck’s Tribute Center, www.becksfuneralhome.com.
