On May 8, 2018, William (Bill) Robert Albrecht, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 86. Bill was born on July 7, 1931 in Wallingford, Connecticut to Julian and Helen (Michonski) Albrecht. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jean (Peters) Albrecht and is survived by his four children Kathy (Bert) Evans, Laura (Ken) Munk, Michael , and Nancy (Joe) Zeka; along with his seven grandchildren Matthew, Scott (Liz), Chloe, Katie, Steven, Madison and Brock; and his great-grandchild, Macsen. Bill was a gifted athlete in high school and college. In 1949, he was named State Scoring Champion and his high school football team went on to become Connecticut State Champions. In 2010, Bill was inducted into the Southington Hall of Fame for his athletic ability and accomplishments. Bill continued to make his mark on the football field at the University of Washington playing defensive and offensive halfback beginning in 1950 until 1955. He was named team “ironman” during his career and held a UW record in single season and career pass interceptions. After graduating from the University of Washington, Bill fulfilled his ROTC responsibility as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force stationed at Johnson Air Force Base in Japan. After his military service, Bill was a high school physical education teacher and coach in the Shoreline School District for many years. In his free time Bill enjoyed spending time in his boat on Puget Sound fishing. Among Bill’s greatest accomplishments was his role as husband and father. He was a hard worker devoted to providing for and taking care of his family. He is greatly loved and will be missed. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 29, at St. Thomas More Parish, 6511 176th SW, Lynnwood.
