James Bueford Kincaid passed from this life on June 1, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born on December 3, 1935 in Lee County, KY to Eunice (Bailey) Kincaid and James William “Bud” Kincaid; one of eight children living to adulthood. Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters, Jean Campbell and Doris Kincaid; his brothers, Kenneth Kincaid and Charles Kincaid. He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Glenda (Lumpkins) Kincaid; his son, James David Kincaid (Valarie); his daughter, Laura Diane Kincaid; sisters, Minnie See (J Lynn), Betty Russell, Muriel Conner, Judy Holbrook (Charles), and a host of nieces, nephews and their children. After graduating from Lee County High School, James entered military service with the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 receiving an honorable discharge as Specialist 5. He was an Army Reservist until 1962. Following his service, he moved to Cincinnati where he worked while attending classes at the University of Cincinnati and married Glenda in 1959. James was hired by IBM in 1966 and was transferred to Lexington, KY in 1971 where he worked until his retirement in 1991. Throughout his life, James had a keen interest in repairing and rebuilding cars and trucks. He had the knowledge and intellect to repair anything with a motor. Four-wheeling on the family farm was a favorite past-time that he shared with many family members and friends. Travel and adventure were also a lifelong interest that he shared with his family. His wife and children remember the many vacations camping at Walker’s Creek, trips to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone, Myrtle Beach, the Great Smoky Mountains, Mount Rushmore and Pike’s Peak while stopping to visit historical sites and museums along the way. James was one of the best people in the world. He was a wonderful father and husband and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 1pm-2pm at Clark Legacy Center, 601 East Brannon Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356, with a celebration of life service to follow at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Three Forks Historical Museum, c/o Dedra Brandenburg, PO Box 1625, Beattyville, KY 41311. The Museum is a 501c3 non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible.
