Zena I. Thoresen, age 96, of Venice, FL died on February 3, 2010. She was born in Regina, Canada on January 5, 1914 and came to the Venice area in 2003 from Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Thoresen had an adventuresome spirit. At age 79 she peeled logs for construction of a new log cabin; at 80 she went hot air ballooning; at 85 she tried parasailing; and at 88 she was helmet diving and swimming with dolphins. She was also a wonderful seamstress and active at all kinds of crafts. She is survived by her daughters Gayle Laursen and Karen Quinn, both of Venice; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and four siblings.
