Pauline Smith was born at home on May 5, 1951 and passed on to Heaven on June 13, 2023. She was a graduate of Henry Clay High school and from there went on to start a fulfilling life as a seamstress and homemaker with the love of her life, Wayne. 

She is survived by her husband of 54 years and soulmate Wayne Smith and children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that feel the loss of their family matriarch. Pauline, fondly known as “granny” was the sounding board for every life event and was everyone’s biggest cheerleader.

Loyal and stubborn to her core, especially with her husband who she worried over relentlessly; and her grand babies and great grand babies, who she would drop anything for. Granny was the best kinda people to have on your team. She always had a compliment for a stranger and jokes to offer anyone she had a conversation with. She was an interesting bird and enjoyed things like travelling to the first KFC to stand where the colonel stood, or being an avid Price is Right watcher and wannabe contestant, and Lord, don’t get her started on Diane Jenkins on The Young and the Restless, that woman loved her soaps. 

She also loved all things Disney, her favorite being Tigger, and you’d often find her clothes, wallets, and purses lined with embroidered little orange Tiggers and Poohs. She still has her chest of the classic V.H.S. tapes sitting where it always has, not far from the box of unopened McDonald’s toys that she’s collected since the 1970’s. “It could be worth money someday!” She’d say.

Granny was a best friend and the person you called daily to talk about everything and nothing with. She still mailed coupons with sweet letters when she thought of someone, had the sweetest way of saying goodbye on the phone, and she never left you without an I love you more. Granny had the most beautiful smile and loved to use it whenever she could, and that thing was contagious as I’ll get and lit up the entire room. She never failed to make us feel seen, heard, and loved. And there wasn’t a doubt in my mind what we meant to her. I hope she knows we miss her more than words could ever express, love you most Granny. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pauline’s favorite charity: The Sandy Wayne Foundation.
