Frank M. Miale, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Johnston, Rhode Island, went to meet the Lord on February 2, 2010. He was born in Providence, R.I. to Francesco and Incoronata (Granieri) Miale. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Sadie; three sons, Michael (Pamela) and David (Linda) both of Johnston, R.I. and John of Venice, Florida; a brother, Michael of Johnston, R.I.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late, Cosmo, Joseph, Dolores and Rose. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and attended the University of R.I., his education was cut short by the start of WWII. He proudly served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in the European Theater. He made 4 combat jumps in France, Italy and Holland during which he was wounded in action. He published the book “Stragedy” about the experience he and his platoon endured. One of his goals in life was to return to the site of each jump before he died, he achieved his goal over the course of 6 years with family members by his side. He was employed by the Exxon Corp. for 33 years before retiring, then traveling the country with his wife in their motor home. He was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Englewood where he sang in the choir. He lived his life as he left it, on his terms. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice. Memorial donations may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation, 950 Tamiami Trail, Suite 103, Sarasota, Florida 34236. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
