E. Joseph Joe Kelley, Jr., 81, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Appleton, Wisconsin, died December 25, 2009 in Venice. He was prededed in death by his parents, E. Joseph, Sr. and Elizabeth Kelley, and his brother Meldon Kelley. Arrangements are by Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory. A private family service will be held. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lois Mae Kelley of Venice; two sons and their wives, T. Robert and Kathleen Kelley of Denver, Colorado and James L. and Rae Ann Kelley of Songdo City, South Korea; a grandson, James A. Kelley of Boulder, Colorado; a brother and his wife, Thomas and Jette Kelley of Verona, Wisconsin; cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and lived in Appleton, Wisconsin where he served as an elementary school principal and primary grades teacher in the school system for 30 years. Joe was a dedicated, well respected, and beloved educator. He had also served in the U.S. Army occupational forces in Japan at the end of WWII. He retired in 1985 and moved to the Capri Isles community in Venice. He was an avid golfer and worked for many years at Capri Isles Golf Club. Joe cherished the friendships he developed in the community. A kind and convivial gentleman, he was well liked by all the community members that knew him. He will be remembered for his endearing warmth and excellent sense of humor. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
