George was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1928. He graduated from Saint Ignatius High School (Cleveland) in 1946. Forgoing an opportunity in minor league baseball, he graduated from John Carroll University (University Heights, Ohio), St. Louis University (St. Louis, MO), and Washington University (St. Louis, MO). George and Helen married in 1953. He adored Helen, reminding her daily of his love, calling her his sweetheart each day, often reminding her: "Je t’aime aujourd'hui plus qu’hier, mais pas autant que demain." (I love you today more than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow). He designed a pendant with this sentiment and wore it every day. George proudly served in the United States Air Force in ROTC, Active Duty, and the Reserves. He practiced Radiology at Cabrini, Swedish/Edmonds, Cascade, and 37 rewarding years at Swedish/Ballard hospital. Living life to its fullest, George’s activities included boating, fishing, back packing, gardening, family outings, the Mariners and the Washington Huskies. As a proud American, he wanted to help, not enable those in need and therefore was a very generous humanitarian. George and Helen were devoted members of Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds. He was a founding member of the BOFs (Ballard Old Farts), and was always grateful for their friendship and support. George passed away peacefully, survived by his wife and constant companion of 65 years and their three children. He was preceded in death by his fishing partner and eldest son, Mark. We are certain they are happily floating down a river in a Mackenzie boat catching steelhead (and not releasing them). You are so missed our dear, loving and loyal husband, father and friend. May God be generously holding your hand each moment of every day. A Mass will be held for friends and family. Please offer a prayer for our family and country as a donation.
