Keith L. Parkinson It is with great sadness the family of Keith L. Parkinson announces his passing from this life to his heavenly home on Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Edmonds, Washington from a long, courageous battle with illness. Keith was born August 2, 1952 in Milford, Utah. His parents, Delmar R. Parkinson and Verda Limb Parkinson brought him home to reside in Beaver, Utah. He was the eighth child of ten children, their fourth son. He attended Belknap Elementary and Beaver High School, graduating in 1970. While growing up, he worked as soon as he was old enough helping neighbors hauling hay, custodial work in town and later employed at the Fish Hatchery. In 1973, Keith made a move to Seattle area. Keith attended North Seattle Community College, receiving an AA in Electrical Power and Control. Moving on to work at Alaskan Copper for 5 years, then began his 25-year career primarily as a Road Maintenance Technician at the Washington State Department of Transportation. He was known for his dedication to both work and his family. Keith married Karen Dawson on August 27, 1983 in West Seattle, later purchasing their first home in Edmonds where they had 2 children. Spending time with family was very important to Keith. He was a devoted Father and there was nothing more he loved in the world then being a Grandpa to his two young granddaughters. Some of his favorite pastimes were working in his shop, and following professional and college ballgames. Keith had a love of cars, especially vintage, enjoying working on the mechanics and maintenance. Family gatherings was something that Keith always looked forward to. He is preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings: Eugene Parkinson, Ardella Ady, Sharon LeFevre, Varnel Parkinson and Revola Branch. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Karen; their two children Breanna (John) Lillibridge, Chad Parkinson (Kaitlyn); two granddaughters, Eva and Amelia; and siblings: Reva Swasey (Richard), Gerald (Ginny) Parkinson, Trena (Garry) Walker and Mary (Keith) Koziba. Our family wishes to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Susan Montgomery and staff at Edmonds Medical Oncology for the care and compassionate support shown, and to Dr. Daniel Landis at Radiosurgery Center in Seattle as well as Dr. Shilpa Vyas and staff at Swedish Cancer Institute. We also are grateful to Aldercrest of Edmonds and Evergreen Hospice Care of Everett in the care provided for in comfort and support. A Tribute and Celebration of Life for Keith will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1pm at Westgate Chapel in the Common (Gymnasium) 22901 Edmonds Way, Edmonds, WA 98020 In lieu of flowers, should friends and family desire, a donation can be made in his remembrance to your charity of choice.
