Marilyn Dahlke passed away peacefully on the evening of December 23, 2018 following weeks of Hospice care. We are so grateful to her Providence Hospice team, and to the excellent care provided by Careforce and Mama Lusi's Care caregivers during her final weeks of struggle with COPD. Marilyn Ellen Jenks came to be on January 16th in Seattle, WA in 1942, born to Svea Margaretta Bergstrom Jenks and Harrison Calvin Jenks. She spoke of feeling especially beloved by her paternal Grandmother, Wilhelmina. Though the family lived in Ballard, summer weekends were spent at the family beach cabin on Useless Bay on Whidbey Island. Extended family parties of years ago were a very fond memory. Marilyn would smile and started to sway whenever she recalled a Hula group she performed with as a young woman. On a blind date, she met husband-to-be Roger Maurice Dahlke who had recently travelled West from Montana along with friends to establish himself in Seattle, WA. There were dates, dancing, and marriage in October of 1962. She often mentioned their song, “Could I Have This Dance” (for the rest of my life) and loved to dance with him when there was an opportunity. Marilyn loved life and the world she lived in. She loved Christmas time, and everything that sparkled. She became an accomplished basket weaver, and produced lovely pieces of Swedish weaving. She was passionate about her own rescue dogs, and rode along on Boston Terrier rescue transports for Boston Terrier Rescue of Western Washington whenever possible. In later years, Marilyn spent the best of times at the Whidbey Island beach that she loved with very good friends. She also spoke of treasured friends made at a local Edmonds restaurant that she and Roger would frequent over the past year. She is survived by husband Roger of 56 years; daughter Karyn Dahlke Rasmussen, son-in-law Michael Gordon Rasmussen; brother Harrison Jenks (Marilynn Jenks); as well as nieces and nephews: Tamara Sather (Ed), Thomas Jenks (Kathy), Terry Jenks (Erin), Tracy Scavuzzo Eckhardt (Charlie), Tawnia Loughery (Doug), Trent Acheson, Christopher Dahlke and Larry Dahlke, Jr. Donations may be made in her memory to Boston Terrier Rescue of Western Washington c/o Vicki Brunell, 6600 Recurve Road, Pasco, WA 99301 or via paypal at http://paypal.me/BTRWWDonations
