Roger Noone, 82, of Venice, FL died at home on Friday, October 30, 2009 after a difficult illness. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan, of Venice, FL; sons Geoffrey Noone of Flowermound, TX and Cooper Noone of Needham, MA; daughter Jennifer Noone of Tehachapi, CA; brother Walter Noone of Wakefield, RI; grandchildren Briana Ewer of Tucson, AZ, Leighton Noone of Rochester Mills, PA, Alexander Noone of Venice, FL, Eloise Noone of Needham, MA, and Owen Noone of Needham, MA; great-grandchildren Jordan Ewer, John Ewer, Jocelyn Ewer, Joella Ewer, and Ariana Noone, and many nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Scranton, PA and attended Central HS graduating as senior class president and a member of the National Honor Society in 1945. He became an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts in 1944 and remained active with the Boy Scouts for years. He enlisted in the Army Air Force during World War II and served until 1947. Roger graduated Lehigh in 1951 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and B.A. in Arts and Sciences. He was a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity. After Lehigh, Roger worked with Pitney Bowes in Stamford, CT for 23 years rising to the position of Vice President of their copier division. In 1970, Roger earned an M.B.A. from University of Connecticut. In 1973, he was voted UConn’s Alumnus of the Year. He was active in community affairs including the United Fund, Stamford Junior Chamber of Commerce, Multiple Sclerosis Fund, YMCA, and the Stamford Museum. In 1975, Roger joined Picker International in Cleveland for 9 years as Vice President Head of Operations before retiring to Newport, RI in 1984. During his lifetime he enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, and sailing.
