Jeff Merkher, 75, of North Port, Florida died Sunday October 4, 2009. Mr. Merkher was born September 17, 1934 in Russia. He moved to North Port 12 years ago coming from Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Merkher was a volunteer lector at Warm Mineral Springs, a member of Temple Beth-El, North Port. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Augustina Merkher of North Port; daughter, Svetlana Merkher-Petersen of Boston, MA; son, Alex Merkher of Washington Crossing, PA; sisters, Paulina Belote of Miami, FL and Nechama Joffe of Brooklyn, NY; 5 grandchildren.
