Olga Edith Gustafson Girard, 95 of Englewood died September 27, 2009. She was born April 16, 1914 to Edith (Chandler) and Knut Gustafson in Lowell, MA. She has been a local resident since 1947 having come from Old Saybrook and West Hartford, CT. She was Charter member and Past President (2 terms) VFW Aux. 8118; Past District President of Military Order of the Cooties; Charter member and PastPresident (2 terms) of Disabled Vets. Aux. 101; Life Member, Past President and Treasurer of Deborah Heart and Lung Association; Member of American Legion Aux. 159; Secretary Venice Grange 186; Past Noble Grand (2 terms) Jenny Lind Rebecca Lodge in CT; Member Venice-Nokomis Boat Club; Past President and Treasurer of Finnish Club of Sarasota; Member, Friends of Finland, Scandinavian Club of Venice; Treasurer of Scandinavian Club of Venice; Member of Englewood Genealogy Society of FL; Member of Lemon Bay Historical Society; Member of H2U Club of Englewood Hospital; member of The Old Timer’s Club of Venice; member, Senior Friends; Red Hats of North Port Community UCC; Member of the North Port Community UCC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nelson Girard and her brother, Harold Emil Gustafson, Sr. Survivors include her son, David N. Girard and his wife, Gloria of Tampa, FL; sister, Agnes Bushey of Englewood, FL; grandsons: Jeffrey Girard and his wife Renee of Tampa ; Christopher Girard and his wife Nicole of Tampa and great grandson Devin of Tampa; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday, October 1 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10 AM, Friday October 2 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel with burial immediately following at Palms Memorial Park in Sarasota.
