Estelle “Petie” Kuhn (89) the beloved wife of 68 years of Walter “Bud” Kuhn passed away in Venice, Florida September 19, 2009. She was born in Waynesboro, Pa. on October 21, 1919. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Leedy, a Tampa Realtor with Prudential, her son, Dr. Walter “Ted’ Kuhn who is a Medical Director of Mission to the World and academic physician at the Medical College of Georgia; and 2 grandchildren Dr. Joshua J. Kuhn , US Navy, and Lydia J. Kuhn, Senior Medical Student at MCG. Petie graduated from Gettysburg College Cum Laude with a BS in 1941 and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a Registered Medical Technologist and did research and teaching and was on the medical team that discovered “Christmas Disease” a rare blood clotting disorder. Petie was a Presbyterian elder and Sunday school teacher and charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and a long time member of the Faith Choir. For many years she was the administrator of the library and an active member of prayer groups. Petie was the “First Lady” of the Zembo Shrine in 1975 when her husband “Bud” was Potentate and on the Board of Directors at “Homeland”. She was a member of the Harrisburg Country Club and Courtside Tennis Club in Venice. She was devoted to her family and community. She was known to her family and friends for her deep faith, her servant’s heart, her generous hospitality, and for her joy and love. We all will miss her.
