Leonard William “Len” Lynch died peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on March 29, 2019. He was 90 years old. Len was born on October 5, 1928 to John and Marie Anne (Lyonais) Lynch in Williston, North Dakota. Len was the eighth of 18 children, living on a farm just outside Williston and going to grade school in a one-room schoolhouse. Len had many adventures in his long life, and regaled us with entertaining stories about the farm, playing pranks on his parents and siblings, his tour of duty in the Air Force, and serving in the Peace Corps in India. After the Air Force, Len moved to Seattle to join his brother and work at Boeing. He graduated from Seattle University with a BA in Business Administration, and was the Business Manager at Bishop Blanchet High School for 38 years. On July 6, 1968 he married Marvel Ira, whom he met at the Chancellor Club. He carried on his mischief-making ways with his co-workers and nuclear family, but it was always gentle, harmless fun. Len had a strong, abiding Catholic faith, which he expressed in acts of service. Among his many contributions, he ushered, transported parishioners of limited mobility to Mass, and did visitations to families in need on behalf of St. Vincent de Paul. Len’s kids remember that he was their biggest fan, attending every basketball game, cross-country race, dance recital, musical performance, and play. His smiling face in the crowd and unconditional love and support were constant. Len is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Marvel (Ira) Lynch, daughters Jacqui Emanuel and Kathleen Lester (& Richard), son Brian, three grandsons (Evan, Josh, Joseph), two granddaughters (Violet, Taija), and numerous friends and acquaintances. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at St. Mark Catholic Church (18033 15th Pl. N.E., Shoreline, WA 98155; https://saintmarkshoreline.org) at 11:00 in the morning. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Our dearest cowboy - it’s time for you to ride off into the sunset on your horse, Beauty, with your faithful dog Jiggs at your side. Love you forever - Len, Dad, Grandpapa, Papa.
