Barbara Fay Brakefield Daugherty was born November 6, 1932 to Cameron and Lucile Brakefield in Covington, Kentucky. She attended high school at Simon Kenton and went on to graduate from pharmacy school at the University of Cincinnati. Upon graduation, she assisted her parents in the Brakefield Drugstore they owned at Walton. There, she met the love of her life, Bart Daugherty, who would become her husband for over 60 years. She was a charter member of the Anchor Baptist Church where she served faithfully in many capacities over the years. She is survived by her husband, Bart; her two daughters, Vivian ( Shawn) Edwards of Vine Grove, and Diane (Shane) Smith of Lexington; a brother, John Brakefield, of Walton; and two grandchildren, Cameron (24) and Katelyn (21). Funeral arrangements are at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing Thursday April 25, 2024 with visitation from 9:00am-11:00am and the funeral at 11:00am. A private graveside will be in Florence. In lieu of flowers, please take a loved one to lunch and give them a New Testament.
