Sophie Zizik, 89 of Nokomis, Florida passed away July 8, 2009 in Sarasota, Florida. Sophie was born May 3, 1920 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She moved to Nokomis in 2001 from Old Bridge, New Jersey were she was a homemaker. She was a member of Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. Sophie is survived by her son Raymond and wife Ann Marie of Nokomis, brother, Edward Szczolka of North Port, Florida; sisters, Stella Czerwinski of Bradenton, Florida, Helen Pechefsky and Dorothy Schalka both of Nokomis, Florida; grandchildren, Laurie Fitzpatrick of Ireland and Richard Zizik of Denver, Colorado and great grandchild, Ella Fitzpatrick. A visitation will be held for Sophie on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm at the Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 1:30 PM at the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice with burial following the services at Venice Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held for Sophie on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm at the Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel.
