James "Jim" Joseph Anderson June 23, 1945 - July 26, 2019 Jim Anderson, age 74, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on July 26, 2019 in Edmonds, WA. He was born in San Francisco, CA on June 23, 1945 to William Anderson and Claire Sullivan. His father served as a US Air Force pilot so Jim’s family lived many places across the world. Jim graduated from high school in 1963 in Misawa, Japan. Jim followed his father’s footsteps into the military and enlisted in the US Army in 1965. He served 6 years in the US Army from 1965 to 1971. During his army service, Jim was stationed in West Germany, where he met Sigrid Niebuhr. They fell in love and got married on June 27, 1969 in Breselenz, Germany. Jim and Sigrid moved to the San Francisco area where Jim finished college and got a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State College in 1972. The following year, Jim started working at Safeco Insurance. In 1979, Safeco offered Jim a position in Seattle, WA so he moved his family to Edmonds, WA. Jim worked in the Insurance industry for 43 years. He started as an Underwriter at Safeco Insurance and moved into Sales and Marketing where he spent most of his career. He worked for Safeco Insurance for over 35 years and then at Liberty Mutual until retirement in 2016. Jim was very proud of his daughters, Nicole and Shannon, and their accomplishments. He actively supported them in their hobbies, activities and sports, especially softball and the Mukilteo Little League. He started as a team coach for one of Nicole’s teams but became more involved as team manager, softball and baseball umpire, head league umpire and little league board member. His passion for softball and baseball was even more evident as he always volunteered for his company’s charity work with the Everett Aquasox and Seattle Mariners. Because his father was an air force pilot in WWII, Jim was always fascinated with war planes and airplanes in general. Living close to the Boeing Everett plant was no accident. He loved taking his family to the local air shows, and was excited that his older daughter worked at the Boeing Company; proudly attending family days and airplane rollout ceremonies. Jim was a loving, kind and extremely supportive person. Whether family, friends, coworkers or neighbors, he was always there to support with whatever help was needed. Even if he didn’t know anything about the subject, he would try his best to help figure it out. He was an awesome father. Many of his daughters’ successes are due in large part to his encouragement and guidance. Jim is survived by his wife, Sigrid, and his two daughters, Nicole and Shannon.
