Madalyn, “Lyn” Mary (Connaghan) Zalewski, 64 of Salem, MA and Venice, FL, died suddenly May 4, two days after the death of her sister, Gracie LaVasseur, also of Venice. Born in Lynn, MA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ruth (Main) Connaghan, Lyn was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls’ High in 1962. She worked for several years for Prudential Insurance before becoming an administrative assistant at General Electric in Lynn in the Aircraft Engineering division. After her retirement, she moved to Venice with her husband of 22 � years, Joseph. She became very involved in their Venice Isle Estates’ community activities, most especially as editor of their monthly newsletter, “The Islander”. She was always willing to share her talented computer skills to assist with the activities of the many clubs and organizations at Venice Isle. She was also committed to raising funds for cancer research as a member of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority. In addition to her husband Joe, she leaves two sons, Mark David and his wife, Gloria of Eden Prairie, MN, and Matthew Charles of Brighton, MA; step children Tricia Harris of Lebanon, VA, Nancy Dietenhofer of Salisbury, MA and Joe Zalewski, Jr. of Salem, MA; her brother in law, Claude LeVasseur of Venice; seven grandchildren; and her two nieces, Sharon McSweeny of Duxbury, MA and Judi Ogar of Holbrook, MA.
