Donald Richard White, 84 of Edgewater, Md. and Englewood, Fl. died March 18, 2009 at the Venice Regional Medical Center. Mr. White was born December 14, 1924 in Berkeley, Ca., the third of four sons of Arthur F. and Irene (Leek) White. He served in the US Army from February 1943 until December 1945 in Europe and North Africa. He was discharged as Sergeant Major, and was awarded the Bronze Star. Don married Ellen DeHart of Virginia in January 1948. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. degree in 1949, received his CPA and became a partner with Pannell-Kerr-Forster Company from which he retired in 1985. Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Arthur. Jr., Raymond W. and George F. White. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of 61 years, daughters, Cynthia Rohrbach (Steve) of Summertown, Tn.; Kathleen White (Jim Webster) of Brattleboro, Vt.; Carolyn White (Laurence Kruckman) of Indiana, Pa.; and son Donald Richard, Jr. (Jennifer) of West Chester, Ohio; and seven grandchildren. Mr. White was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Republican Club of South Sarasota County.
