Elizabeth Anna (Murch) Sawtelle, 90, of Englewood, Florida, formerly of Maine, died March 13, 2009. A native of Maine, Elizabeth was born in Portland and attended Deering High School where she met her future husband Roland Earl Sawtelle. She graduated from Nasson College with an Associate degree. Roland and Elizabeth eloped in Kennebunkport, Maine. They raised their family in South Paris, Maine. Together they owned and operated Four Seasons Campground on Long Lake in Naples, Maine, finally retiring in 1982 to make Englewood, Florida, their permanent residence. They shared a great joy of boating, taking their sailboat, the Downeasta, on many sails throughout the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The devoted couple were married for 69 years. Survivors include her husband, Roland Earl Sawtelle; beloved son Peter; cherished daughter Cynthia; daughter-in-law Eileen; five grandchildren: Debora, Michelle, Michael, Peter Junior, and Dawnalyn; six great grandchildren: Curtis, Jaycee, Brendon, Nathalie, Connor, and Jaden; special sister-in-law and dear friend Muriel Loignon; a sister, Marjorie Black; brother-in-law Elwin Sawtelle; nephew Stephen Sawtelle; niece Jennifer Sawtelle; and many other relatives and friends. The memorial will be private, attended only by the immediate family. In lieu of flowers or cards, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida is handling the arrangements.
