Mary Rader Leach died on December 28th in Venice, FL, following a brief illness. A native of Ironton, OH, she was the daughter of late Herman and Dixie Rader. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 45 years, Dr. John E. Leach, Nokomis, FL, and children Judson, Los Angeles, CA, and Joanne, Columbus, OH. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Kay Rader of Ironton and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Charles and Jane Leach, Ironton; Mary Sue Leach Bissell, Rotonda West, FL; and Fred and Paula Leach Pope, Lexington, KY, along with a number of nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends. Mary graduated from Ironton High School in 1957. She earned her nursing diploma from the Holzer School of Nursing in Gallipolis, OH, and continued her nursing studies at The Ohio State University where she earned a B.S. and an M.S. in Nursing. Mary worked as a nursing supervisor at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, and later was a Neurosurgical Instructor at the Riverside Hospital School of Nursing. She was a nurse, business manager and partner with her husband in his orthopaedic practice for many years before retiring to Florida three years ago. A talented artist and accomplished musician, Mary enjoyed painting and participated in the bell choir at her church, Trinity United Methodist, Upper Arlington, OH, while living in Columbus. She was also an avid golfer. She was also a loyal Ironton Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. The OSU flag flew throughout the fall at her home and game day was always a festive occasion, complete with her lucky buckeye necklaces.
