James Leon Potts

May 8, 1945 — Oct 2, 2026

James Leon Potts (Poncho) lost his battle with a long term heart condition.

Born in Yuba City, proceeded in death by loving parents, the son of Leonard Robert Potts and Margaret Mary Lucero Potts Steele Lemley. He also had numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins  and his two sons and on daughter whom he cared for deeply.

James worked many jobs and served in the Vietnam War. He worked for Indian Health as a driver for seniors, wherever there was a cause for Natives he was there. Worked diligently after hours assisting elders, there was no time he wouldn't answer the call.

He played guitar, harmonica, was a talented basket weaver amongst other Native arts as well as assisted in various ceremonies for Natives in his language.

Loved the casino!

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
