 Julia “Jukie” Ball, 96, of Jackson, California passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 28, 2026. She was a beloved wife, aunt, sister, neighbor and friend to many. 

 Julia was born on July 21, 1930, in Sutter Creek, California to John and Rosie Boretta and was raised there and attended Sutter Creek Union High School. Julia enjoyed attending many dances held at the Sutter Creek Auditorium.

 In 1950, Julia married Junior Ball, and they purchased their first home in Jackson and resided at that same address their entire lives. They enjoyed 74 years of marriage. Many hundreds of family members and friends passed through their door on a regular basis, no appointment necessary.

 Julia’s first job was working at the Sutter Creek Laundry. After a few years she started a day care center in her home and cared for many children as well as neighbor children with many of them adopting her and Junior as “grandparents.” She retired from daycare at the same time her husband retired, and she and Junior enjoyed many years taking road trips all over the United States. They especially enjoyed their trips to Lake Tahoe and Reno.

 Julia is preceded in death by her husband Junior Ball and her sister Mary Nettle (Jimmy). She is survived by her godchildren and nieces Judy Vialpando (Drew), Kathy Smalley (Guy) and Susan Bunker (Ken) and by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who all loved her so deeply.

 A funeral service will be held on August 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Daneri’s Mortuary with burial immediately following at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson followed by a reception at American Legion Hall.
