Tommy Joe Bowman

July 7, 1991 — May 6, 2026

Tommy Joe Bowman II (TJ) passed away on May 6, 2026, in Jackson.

Tommy (TJ) was born in Texas on July 7, 1971, to Tommy Joe Bowman and Betty Lois (Mitchell) Bowman. After the death of his mother in 1973, Tommy moved to California at the age of two. There, he joined the family of Dwight and Elsie Martin and five sisters making him the only boy and the baby of the family.

Over the years, Tommy (TJ) enjoyed traveling across the United States in a converted bus and wore many hats throughout his life. He worked as a spa technician, tow truck driver, landscaping, car salesman, and was once a cook on an oil rig off the coast of Texas. For a short time worked in Nassau on the construction of Paradise Island. After his travels, he returned home to Amador County.

Tommy (TJ) was fun witty and absolutely hilarious at times. He loved karaoke give him a mic and its on! I remember one of his favorites to sing when us sisters were around was Sister Sledge “we are family, I got all my sister with me”. He loved Madonna and was a Swifty. Next to music he loved the outdoors and the Casino where he won often.

Tommy (TJ) was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lois (Mitchell) Bowman; his father, Dwight Martin; and his sisters, Tammy Martin and Tarry Martin.

Tommy (TJ) is survived by his mother, Elsie Martin; his sisters, Linda DeWeese, Donna McDermott, and Dianna DeWeese; a brother he met as a teenager, Justin Bowman; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Tommy’s (TJ) life will be held in July. Details will be announced at a future date.
