Patricia "Pat" Izlar Short

Patricia Izlar Short of Lynchburg, passed away at her home on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Patricia was born on October 1, 1934, in Morristown, Tennessee. She spent 25 years in the medical profession at Centra Health and was a devoted member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where she generously volunteered her time.

Patricia is survived by three children: Susan Short Beasley and her husband, George, of Madison Heights, VA; and Steven Forrest Short and his wife, Melissa, of Durham, NC and Diana Short Ellis of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Eden Hatch (Eric), Violet Ellis, Oliver Short (Mary) and Emerson Short and one great grandchild, Eleanor Hatch and several cousins.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Adam White officiating. A visitation and light reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately after the service. Burial will take place on Wednesday, October14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixon, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, 4660 Fort Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24502.
