A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Diuguid Funeral Service, 21914 Timberlake Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24502.
William Lee Hildebrandt (Bill) left his earthly life on October 16, 2025. He was born on April 16, 1937. He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon James & Anna Mae Collier and his grandparents William & Jenny Walters and Henry & Lucretia Braswell. Survivors include his wife Anita Williams Hildebrandt, daughters Alesia Hildebrandt, Sylvia Lee Newman (Duane) and grandchildren Ryan William Mattox, Eliana Grace Newman and Abigail Faith Newman.
Bill was a graduate of Sanford Prep School in Hocassin, DE and attended community college. He proudly served 11 years in the U.S. Army with posts in Germany, Vietnam and many stateside assignments. Following his military service, he began his employment in the printing industry, retiring from Progress Printing in 1999.
Bill was a Christian and accepted his Lord and Savior as a young man. He remained true to his faith and was active in church throughout his life. He was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge, Lynchburg Civil War Roundtable, and a lifetime member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Bill was a lover of nature and all God’s creatures. He was especially fond of horses and many family pets over the years. He also loved motorcycles and had many enjoyable rides with friends.
The family wishes to thank his caregivers Brenda Myles and Kelly Matthews and special friends Bobby Kubik, Rachel Kubik and Doug Ashwell.
