Roland Calester Strickland
Dec 2, 1952 — Jun 18, 2026
Roland C. Strickland, 73 passed away suddenly on June 18, 2026.
Roland was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Frank and Annie Lois Strickland, his mother passed away when he was very young, his father remarried he was raised by Laura Strickland and that was his mama.
Roland served in the US Air Force for 11 years. He then went to work for Circle K Corporation then worked for Hostess Cake & Wonder Bread where he retired after 25 years.
He loved cars and had an extensive collection of Franklin Mint & Danbury Mint cars. He was meticulous about shining and detailing our cars and his lawn. He loved watching Westerns and old TV shows. He was the go-to guy that was always there for questions and guidance for so many over the years. He researched everything before buying it, he was smart with money.
He was preceded in death by his parents Laura and Frank, brothers Bobby, Milton, Edward and Jimmy, son Rafael, stepson Bennie Simon and mother in law Patricia Vaughn.
Survived by his wife Roberta, sons Robert and Roland Strickland and their mother Cheryl, stepsons Andre Simon, Maurice and godson Juriah Carr, sisters Margaret Leek, Audrey (sis) Thomas and Jenny. Grandchildren Aliza, Jahki and Roniah, Tre, Jaeveon, Grace & Angelo and great grandchildren Kalani, Amir and Khamari. So many others that he was dad, grandpa and uncle Roland to so many and made huge impact in their lives.
Everyone called him the candy and snack guy. He would feed all the little ones Twinkies, Ho Ho’s we even handed out Hostess stuff on Halloween. Roland kept his circle small, but family meant a lot to him. He was content to just be at home cooking and watching He always said what he meant and meant what he said.
He will be missed especially by his wife Roberta, she loved him through it all until the very end. The good, the bad and the ugly. The ups and the downs for over 41 years, nobody can ever take his place in her heart. She knew he loved her with all of his heart.
Rest in peace and know that you were always loved!
