Rodolfo Fernandez
Jun 10, 1956 — Oct 26, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Rodolfo “Rudy” Fernandez, age 70, on October 26, 2026, at his home in Englewood, Florida.
Rudy was born on Sunday June 10, 1956 in New York, NY the only child of the late Tomas Fernandez and Aida Agosto Fernandez. He lived in Miami Beach, Chicago, Boston and Maryland.
Rudy was best known for his big laugh and his love and dedication to his family. He spent his long career working first as an engineer in internet development and ending as a medical laser technician in ORs. Rudy often endured long hours and commutes but these were hardships bore with a sense of quiet resolve and humor. His experiences led to him testifying before the US Senate for the family leave bill, and a phone call from the President.
His true life’s work however, was in his roles as a clergy spouse and the father of triplet sons. Rudy was a dedicated little league baseball and soccer coach, and a permanent fixture in the backyard throwing a football with his boys. Rudy was always happy to share his home and heart to everyone, especially his son’s friends, many of whom were granted special family nicknames. Rudy was truly loved by many as a mentor and adopted father figure.
Even through times of hardship and many moves over his life⁷ Rudy never lost his gentle nature and light heart. He deeply enjoyed travel especially with his wife, hobby modeling projects, comedy, his cats, and manning the grill at the family BBQ. For Rudy, the things he loved most had the most meaning when they were done with those he loved.
Rudy is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, The Rev. Linda Fernandez, his triplet sons, Steven of Florida, Thomas (Caitlin) of Maryland, and Robert (Katherine) of New Hampshire, and his seven beloved grandchildren, along with many other family and friends who will deeply miss him
Memorial services will be held in Florida and Interment in Maryland. Information will be updated shortly. The family asks that you honor his memory by throwing a ball with a child, making someone laugh or quietly supporting someone in need—just as Rudy always did.
