Chadwick John Rongstad
Nov 26, 1928 — Aug 13, 2026
Chadwick John Rongstad was born November 26, 1928, in Lamberton, Minnesota to Chris and Anna Rongstad. Chaddy joined the family of four older brothers and two sisters. He was a high school sports star and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1946 and joined the Navy August of that year at the age of 17. He was stationed at the U.S. Navy base at Port Hueneme, California. Chad spent a good deal of his Navy term playing baseball for the Base team and continued playing town baseball as a young man. He met Eunice Engberg from Slayton, Minnesota and they were married in December 1950.
Chad worked for Lampert Lumber Company starting in Fergus Falls, transferred to Hanska, then Willmar and finally, Alexandria. While living in Willmar a small group of men led Chad to the Lord changing him and his family’s lives forever. Their four daughters, Lynette, Janice, Lori and Joann were privileged to grow up in a Christ-centered home. During his years in Alexandria, Chad was a member of the Kiwanis Club and very active at the First Baptist Church. He served on many boards and committees and taught boys’ Sunday school for many years. Chad had a deep concern for those who had not committed their life to Christ.
In 1982, Chad retired and he and Eunice moved to Arizona where they managed several retirement complexes. He remained an avid baseball and basketball fan throughout his life. Chad and Eunice were married for 69 years.
Chad passed away peacefully August 13, 2026 at the age of 97. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, his wife Eunice, and his son-in-law Clay (Lynette) Jones. He leaves behind his four daughters and their families. Chad has 10 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his caring heart, meaningful family prayers, generosity, his sense of humor and his friendly outgoing personality.
