Kenneth Allen Barnes passed away August 1, 2026 in Phoenix AZ.

Universally known as “Barnsy” to friends and family, he was raised in Blasdell, NY, graduated from Frontier Central High School (1982), and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College (1988), before working many years for Bell Atlantic/Verizon.

Barnsy was known for his passion for cooking, often in quantities large enough to feed a small army. He loved all animals and had a menagerie of pets during his lifetime, including dogs, cats, gerbils, lizards, fish, and a tarantula named “Harry”.

He had a deep love of good music and epically bad horror movies. Though his fashion sense leaned to the understated – black T-shirts, jeans and Carhartt jackets, he was known to sportmore daring outfits including Santa hats, bunny ears, MuuMuus,and on very special occasions, a Mankini.

His quick wit and sense of humor were legendary, causing many to bust a gut from laughter at his jokes and pranks. Barnsy wasdeeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his loving wife, Suzi (Coggins), children Erik (Cassidy) Barnes and Nicole Barnes, granddaughter Amara, mother Lorraine (Janicki) Barnes, sister Wendy Barnes, and many family and friends. He was predeceased by his father Don J. Barnes.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 4 – 8 pm at American Legion Post 527 in Hamburg, NY.
