Alan Keith Fish

Alan K. Fish, PSM: A well respected member of the Local and State of Florida Surveying & Mapping Communities passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Alan was President of Van Buskirk/Fish & Associates, Inc. with offices in North Port on a contractual basis from 1984 to 2021. Alan was a member of the American Congress on Surveying & Mapping, the National Society of Professional Surveyors and the Florida Surveying & Mapping Society and was Past President of both the Manasota Chapter and the Charlotte Harbor Chapter of the Florida Surveying & Mapping Society.

Alan grew up in Kokomo Indiana, studied Surveying & Engineering at Purdue University and before moving to Florida in 1981 he was the County Surveyor for Grant County (Marion), Indiana.

Alan was a US Army, Vietnam War Veteran and was an Artillery Surveyor providing Battery Coordinate and Targeting Data, for both Army and Marine Corps Artillery Batteries, along with the DMZ, in Quang Tri Province, while serving with, C Battery, 2nd Target Acquisition Battalion, 26th Field Artillery, 18th Airborne Corps in 1967 and 1968.

Alan was a Life Member of VFW Post 8203, American Veterans Post 312 and a Member of American Legion Post 254. All in North Port, Florida.

Alan is survived by his loving wife Sue, of whom he always said was the best deal he ever made in his life. 2 daughters Lindsay Fish, of Noblesville, IN. & Sarah Aulbach and grandson Ben Aulbach of Tipton, IN. A stepdaughter, Tricia Gibbs, of North Port, FL. and a granddaughter Nicole Tarleton, of Port Charlotte, FL. Sister Barbara Glennon of Centralia, IL. and brother Carl Fish of Matthews, NC.
