Norma June Matthai

On Sunday, June 21, 2026, Norma J. Matthai (Reynolds) age 93 years old passed away in her home in North Port, Florida into the presence of our Lord after a short illness.  Beloved wife of the late Edwin Matthai Sr., loving mother of Janie Roth and Eddie Matthai Jr.  In her early years Norma served in the U.S.Army as a medic where she met the love of her life our dad. Norma & Ed lived in Dundalk, Maryland for 50 years till moving to Florida in 2012.

Surviving in addition to her children Janie (Matthai) Roth & husband Steve and Eddie Matthai Jr are her two Grandchildren Kelly (Roth) Utz & husband Shane of Seffner, Fl. & Chad Roth & wife Mirka of North Port, Fl. Great Grandchildren Zachary Roth, Amelia Roth, Chase Utz, Colin Utz, Caleb Utz, Colton Utz. They all were so loved by their Nanny.

Norma is also survived by her brother Bobby Reynolds of Essex, Md, nephew Bobby Jr. and wife Debbie.  Sister-n-law Lillian Brown & husband Dwight, niece Sherri Scott (Reynolds) & husband Art and nephew James (JJ) Reynolds and many great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is mom’s dear cousin’s (CL) wife Rita Gregory whom she loved dearly and her sister-n-law through marriage Pat Horseman from Southern Maryland.  Such fond memories of the many years crabbing, fishing, boating on the Patuxent River with friends and family & very close friends Barb & late Joe Sallese & family from Ocean Pines, Md.  Norma was preceded by her two older brothers Bill & James (Nook) Reynolds.

Funeral Services will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Fl. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
