Ailene Yerace

Feb 22, 1923 — Feb 1, 2017

Ailene (Rose) Yerace, 93, a long-time resident of Freeport, passed away Wednesday, February 1, at her home in Osprey, FL. Born February 22, 1923, in Leechburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Gladys (Myers) Rose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Irene. A proud and devoted family woman, Ailene is survived by her husband, Angelo; her daughters Teresa (Randy) DeWitt and Pamela Sigmund (Ron Litzell); her granddaughter Kari (Paul) Martindale; and her great-granddaughter Sequoia Martindale. A graduate of Leechburg High School, Ailene put her keen math and spelling skills to use by volunteering for various organizations, including the Freeport Fireman's Auxiliary. She was a baker whose Christmas cookies delighted friends and family, year after year. Ailene had an infectious laugh that shook every bit of her little body; that laugh will be missed by all who loved her. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, February 8 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel with a Graveside Service to follow at 2:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery.
