Angelina M. Orientale, a longtime resident of North Port, FL died peacefully with her husband of 60 years Eugene by her side after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Angelina was born to Joanne & Michael Santini in Brooklyn, NY and spent her youth growing up in the Carroll Garden section of Brooklyn. She was the fourth of six children and was predeceased by her older sisters Nelly, Mary, Rose, her brother Carmine and is survived by her younger sister Catherine Mauro and her husband Dominic of Osprey, FL.
Angie met Gene in 1953 and they were married on June 16, 1956. They lived in Queens, NY until 1966 when they moved into their dream home, which Gene designed in Briarcliff Manor, NY. They lived there for 35 years before relocating to North Port, FL in 2000.
After graduating high school Angie worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in NYC and held several other positions in Westchester County NY before retiring from BOCES in Valhalla, NY in 1998.
She loved to cook, garden, paint, read, sew, knit, travel, spend time and play games with her 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was a long time member of St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff Manor, NY as well as San Pedro's Church in North Port, FL and an active member of the Italian American Club of Venice, FL. She was a loving and generous soul and will be missed by her family and friends.
Angelina is survived by the love of her life husband Eugene, son Anthony and his wife Toni of Myrtle Beach, SC, son Michael and his wife Anna of Briarcliff Manor, NY, son Eugene and his wife Jean of Glastonbury, CT and daughter Pamela and her husband Kevin of Hebron, CT. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Sandra, Danielle, Anthony, Samantha, Catherine, Anna, Allison, Steven, Julia, Samuel and 2 great grandchildren Damsy & Lexi.
In lieu of flowers, the family is respectfully requesting that any donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Angie Orientale: go to web address http://www.alz.org and select donate.
Visitation will be held Thursday December 1st from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Farley Funeral Home located at 5900 S. Biscayne Drive, North Port FL. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at San Pedro's Church located at 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL. Visitation Information
