Anne K. Brown

Anne K. Brown of Venice, Florida passed away peacefully on May 9, 2017 at Manor Care Nursing Home. She had fought a courageous battle with brain cancer, with the loving support of her husband George Brown, her sister Lynn Liaros, her children and her dear friends. Anne was born in Niagara Falls, New York to William and Gladys O'Connor on January 10, 1937. She graduated from Lasalle High School in Niagara Falls in 1954, after which she attended Bryant & Stratton Business School. After completing her studies she worked as a secretary for the Federal Government in Niagara Falls, NY. Anne also worked as an administrative secretary in several positions in the Half Hollow Hills School District on Long Island and later as secretary to the Superintendent of the Niskayuna Central School District, a position she held until retirement. Anne's administrative skills, work ethic and especially her ability to work well with other people were widely recognized and appreciated. She made many friends whom she and George continued to see in their retirement. After retirement, Anne and George Brown moved to Venice, Florida, where she and George maintained a lovely residence and had a fulfilling life. She frequently returned to the New York area, visiting often her children and grandchildren. Anne loved to travel, and she and George travelled extensively. She was an avid golfer, playing often at the Waterford Golf Course and other links with George and her many friends. She was a devoted and never discouraged Buffalo Bills fan. Anne was known as, ""Anne, The Legend Brown"" because of her exceptional skill at winning the football pool at the Venice Order of the Moose Lodge. Anne also loved the Saratoga Race Track, and Saratoga Springs NY was a favorite summer place for Anne and George. Anne is survived by her beloved husband and best friend George Brown, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage. She was blessed with six children; James Peter McPartlon, Annemarie Gleason (Thomas), Mary Dokuchitz (David), William McPartlon (Robin), Katie McPartlon and Michael McPartlon (Amy). Anne also is survived by seventeen beautiful grandchildren; Alexandra Connolly (Jonathan), Caitlin Gleason (Daniel Joseph), James Peter McPartlon, Peter Kansas (Paula), Gregory Dokuchitz, Tara Gleason, Sarah McPartlon, Daniel Dokuchitz, Chelsea McPartlon, William McPartlon, Tessa Kansas, Nora Gleason, Madison McPartlon, Ryan Gleason, Hannah McPartlon, Sydney McPartlon and Ashlyn McPartlon. Anne is survived by two great granddaughters, who lived nearby with their parents and whom she loved dearly, Emma Connolly and Addison Connolly. Anne's other surviving family members include her sister Lynn Liaros of Niagara Falls, and her brother John O'Connor, of Massachusetts. Anne was the sister-in-law of Linda Brown, Nelson and Kathy Kissinger, and Carol Ferguson. Anne was a member of the Parish community at the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. Calling hours will be Sunday May 14, 2017 from 4-6 pm at the Farley Funeral Home, 265 South Nokomis Ave, Venice Fl. A Roman Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at the Epiphany Cathedral on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Anne's memory may be made to Save the Children or the Jim Valvano Foundation. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
