Arthur R. Hogan, Sr., of Venice, FL, passed away on Thursday, January 9th, 2014. He was born in Litchfield, CT on November 23, 1930 to Albert and Florence Hogan. He went to school in a one room school house and then attended college at UConn when it was still a farm school. After college he joined the Army during the Korean War. After the Army he worked for the Social Security Dept. for thirty years. If they had a problem he fixed it. He is survived by his daughter Tammy; two sons, Ricky and Patrick; grand daughters Haley and Nicole; and great grandson Liam. He is the last one of the original descendents children who came from Ireland in the late 1800's. His uncle owned Hogan's Cider Mill in Burlington, CT which is over one hundred years old and still open and operating as it did in the beginning. In his youth his job made him move a lot until the he finally settled in Mattapoisett, MA. While there he loved to go to Provincetown with all the family and climb the dunes. In town he would stop at a local spot called The Stumble Inn. He had many friends. One friend, Gill Santos, gave him an orange kitty named Fluffy. Visitation will be on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 6 PM - 8 PM at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A funeral service will be held at the funeral Home on Saturday, January 18 at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at VeniceMemorialGardens.
