Beth J. Sullivan
Jun 2, 1951 — Mar 8, 2018
Beth Sullivan, 66, of Port Charlotte, Florida died on March 8, 2018, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family.
Beth was born June 2, 1951, in Worcester, Massachusetts to Raymond and Ingrid (Johnson) Sullivan. Beth’s love of and finding comfort in being near the water began with her childhood spent near the lake in Shrewsbury.
After graduating from nursing school in Massachusetts, Beth started her nursing career as a pediatric nurse at Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Beth moved to the Sarasota area in 1974 where she began her nursing career at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, working as both a charge nurse and an admissions nurse before she transitioned to home health care nursing and nursing administration. Through her 45 year career as a registered nurse, Beth was proud to consider herself an advocate for what she called the art of nursing and worked to inspire others to be the gentle but firm hand in healing.
Beth enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, strongly believing in making memories and traditions to share. Beth’s hobbies included collecting shells at the beach and being in the water. She also enjoyed traveling, painting, cooking and baking, gardening, and reading.
Beth opened her heart and home to everyone and readily welcomed all as part of her extended family. Beth is survived by her daughter Jennifer Sullivan; best friend and partner in all adventures Patricia Astle; twin sister Laurie Sullivan; and sister Robin Donovan. Beth took great delight in spoiling her many nieces and nephews and treasured her entire family. Beth was preceded in death by her parents and sister Bonnie. Beth will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Beth was a kind and generous person. The family would appreciate a remembrance of Beth be a charitable contribution to a children’s charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 16, 2018, at 11 am at Farley Funeral Home, 5900 S. Biscayne Dr., North Port, FL.
