Beverly ""Betty"" E. Parkman, 96, of Venice, FL was called to be with the Lord on August 5, 2013. Beverly was born June 1, 1917 in Corinth, NY to Verna (Johnston) and Elmer Balcom.
Bev was Christian Education Director at First United Methodist Church in Penn Yan, NY and she was instrumental in developing Christian Education for youth and later, adults at GUMC.
Bev was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Duane and her brother, Charles.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Newcomb of Venice, sons, James, Jeffrey and Paul; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; three sisters: Carol (Joseph), Selma, Lucille; and brother, Merton (Marge).
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, August 27th at Grace United Methodist Church in the sanctuary. Memorial Donations may be made either to the Traditional Music or Organ Fund, c/o GUMC, 400 Field Avenue East, Venice, FL 34285 or TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
