Bryan ""Barney"" Sydney Johnson, VMD, 78, of Osprey, FL, formerly of East Brunswick and Toms River, NJ died September 26, 2013. Barney was born January 3, 1935 in Boston, MA to Violet (Wallace) and Arthur Bryan Johnson. He graduated from Boston University, served in the US Army Veterinary Service, and proceeded on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He opened his first practice, Cranbury Veterinary Hospital in East Brunswick and his second practice, Bayview Veterinary Hospital in Toms River, before retiring to Sarasota County. He also worked part time at the Palmer Ranch Animal Clinic. He was an Honor Roll Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Survivors include his wife, Veronica Johnson; step-sons, Marc DeProssimo of Venice, FL and Eric (Jennifer) DeProssimo of South Amboy, NJ; grandson, Jason Michael DeProssimo; brother, James (Mary Lou) Johnson of North Port, FL; sister, Patricia Williams of Quincy, MA.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, October 2, at Venice Church of the Nazarene. Memorial Donations may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, P.0. Box 23827, Tampa, FL 33623-3827 or to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238. Service Information
