Carolyn Kosior Kirkpatrick was born July 18, 1928, in Hatfield, MA., and died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, in Sarasota, FL. She and her husband, Raymond, were married Nov. 20, 1948 in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hatfield. For the past 25 years, Carolyn resided between homes in Hatfield, Massachusetts and Nokomis, Florida, until she recently moved to the Heron Club at Prestancia in Sarasota. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond who passed away 12/06/13, parents John and Teofilia Kosior, brother Bernard Kosior, and sisters Frances Schneider and Cecilia Marcinowski. Carolyn and Raymond were a devoted couple who recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She loved to golf, travel, go to the beach and her annual 2 week trips to the WI lake cottage. Carolyn was employed at the Springfield Armory prior to becoming a long time employee at the University of Massachusetts. She was the lead administrative assistant in the geology department prior to being chosen to be the assistant to the University Chancellor. Carolyn is survived by her son Thomas and wife Robbin of Sanibel Island, Florida and her daughter Lynn LeMahieu and husband David of Hortonville, WI. She is also survived by granddaughters Logan and Riley Kirkpatrick and grandsons Matthew and Nathan LeMahieu, and her beloved teacup Yorkshire terrier. Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb 1, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Osprey, with a funeral Mass following at 10 a.m. Farley Funeral Home is handling arrangements. She will make one more trip north to be laid to rest next to her parents in Hatfield, MA at an undetermined future date.
