She was born to Protus and Nellie (Sink) Koonts in Lexington, North Carolina on September 12, 1932, and came to Nokomis from Birmingham, AL in 1969. Carolyn was a graduate of the Woman’s College of North Carolina (UNC Greensboro). She taught elementary school in Greensboro and Atlanta before moving to Florida. She was known as a voracious reader who especially enjoyed mysteries. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, H. Lauden Pitts of Nokomis; daughter Ansley Kramer (Michael) of Tallahassee, FL; sons Hansel Pitts (Amy) of Nokomis and Greg Pitts, also of Nokomis; 8 grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Joanne Craver of Jacksonville, FL, Lala Myers of Clover, SC, and Patty King of Lexington, NC. Visitation will be at Farley Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3rd from 1 ââ‚"" 4 PM. Funeral Service will be at Venice Nokomis United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 4th at 10 AM with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
