Carolyn Simms

Mrs. Carolyn Sue Simms, 76, died Wednesday evening at Mayo Clinic Health System following an extended illness. She was born October 22, 1936 in Charleston, West Virginia and had lived most of her life in Florida before moving to Hoboken, Georgia in 2009. Mrs. Simms was the daughter to the late Kenneth Ruthven and Margaret Hancock Ruthven. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Vernon Simms, Sr. and two brothers, Kenneth Lee Ruthven and Terry Ruthven. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Jenkins of Pembroke Pins, FL, Teresa Hayes (husband Andre) of North Port, FL and Cheryl Crews (husband James David) of Hoboken, GA; two sons, K.C. Vinck (wife Sheryl) of West Palm Beach, FL and James V. Simms, Jr. (wife Cherlyn) of North Port, FL; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Sarasota National Cemetery with Re. J. Ralph Burton officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, October 14th from 6 - 8 pm at Farley Funeral Home North Port Chapel. Farley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
