Catherine Mary Kocak

Catherine M. Kocak, 96, of Venice, FL passed away February 26, 2015. Catherine was born in North Braddock, PA to Catherine and James Fitzgerald of Dundalk, Ireland. Catherine attended Scott High School and served in the US Navy during WWII at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Moving to FL after the war, she later spent many years working as Executive Secretary in the athletic department at Miami-Dade College. She enjoyed cooking, nature and her retirement in Homosassa, FL and Asheville, NC. She was preceded in death by her son, Buddy and her husband, Joseph.Survivors include her daughter, Diane Fitzgerald of North Venice, FL, her grandson, David Kunkle of Austin, TX and many nieces and nephews. A military honors service will be held at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
