Chester Francis Blais, age 79, of North Port, Florida, passed away on November 26, 2011, surviving long enough to celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary. He was born on December 15, 1931 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Chester grew up in North Attleboro, Mass and after their marriage they moved to Elkhart, Indiana where he was employed by Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Indiana. After his retirement they moved to North Port in 1991. Chester was an active member of San Pedro Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and altar server. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. #82 and the Moose Lodge Chapter #1892 all in North Port. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Chester was survived by his wife, Roberta; nieces and nephews, Ernest (Marilyn) Blais, Dianne (Leo) Clark, Robert (Sherry) Blais, Jeanne (Joseph) Johnson, Paul (Helen) Charron. Rhonda (Martin) Weinrich and Annette (Ernest) Hicks. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law; Joan Charron in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and two uncles, Bernard Blais North Attleboro, Massachusetts and Joseph (Rita) McGee of Venice, Florida. A visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Farley Funeral Home in North Port. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, December 2, 2011 at San Pedro Catholic Church.
