Donald ""Don"" Earl Griffith, 75, of Venice, FL, entered the presence of the Lord he followed, loved, and faithfully served for many years on December 28, 2015.
Don's Homegoing Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, January 2 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be made to an organization that Don loved and served with, Baptist World Missions. The address is PO Box 2149, Decatur AL 35602. Please mark gifts in honor of Don Griffith.
Don was born in Chicago, IL to Edna Mae (Snyder) and Franklin Elliot Griffith on June 17, 1940. He graduated Oley High School in 1930 and attended Eastern Kentucky University where he met his best friend and love of his life, Sue. Don and Sue were married in Cincinnati, Ohio on his birthday, June 17, 1967. Don got his MBA from Ball State University in 1976 and spent his career in banking helping individuals and charitable organizations with trust and private banking. Don also enjoyed coaching basketball and planning the wonderful vacations he took with his wife and family. After retiring, Don founded Faithful Steward Ministries, an organization that helps churches, mission boards and universities with planned and legacy giving.
Don is survived by his wife and best friend, Sue Griffith. He is also survived by four children: Dan and his wife Becky of Greenville, SC; Donna of Greenville, SC; Diana Stauffer and her husband Jonah of Greenville, SC; and Dean and his wife Stephanie of Matthews, NC and twelve grandchildren: Danny, Ben, Titus and Tori Griffith of Greenville, SC; Annabelle and Emerson Stauffer of Greenville, SC; and Ethan, Abigail, Elijah, Isaiah, Gideon, and Anna Griffith of Matthews, NC. Don is additionally survived by his brothers Rich, David, George and Ron and his sisters Sharon and Joan.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Franklin, his mother, Edna Mae, his brothers Franklin and Terry, and his sister Barbara.
